This review is for the Kim Prince Hotville Nashville Chicken pop-up inside Beer Belly on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
Didn't want to seem too desperate nor too hungry but dang I wanted my chicken fast!
I walked in and already there were people scattered around this tiny restaurant waiting for the spicy chicken. Even Ms. Kim Prince herself came out to greet everybody. Yes, we're ready!
I drank some ginger craft beer while waiting for my chicken order and now I'm hooked on that. $6 easy, paid cash.
I took my chicken home and wowow Ms. Prince, yes, that is the hottest chicken I ever tasted! Nobody else but Ms. Prince's chicken can be beat. No wonder there's bread underneath them big ass wings. Thank the Lord I had milk in my fridge and more bread to the rescue.
This chicken is way better than the ghost pepper one chip challenge. Try the Hotville chicken challenge! These were the biggest wings I'd ever seen too! Worth every penny. I couldn't eat all three and I shared the wings with two others - wow their reactions was priceless too.
Next time there's a Hotville pop up in here I'll order the medium. lol -

Disappointed
They have an extremely small beer selection compared to the nearby restaurants and bars. For the place to be called "Beer Belly", you would expect an adequate beer selection. 80% of their beers were IPAs. They had 2 stouts that were both too strong to really enjoy as a stout. I liked that they had sours but other than that, their beer selection is really disappointing. Beachwood is right next to so I would recommend going next door instead.
We wanted some finger food with the beer (thinking they would have a wider selection) so ordered the Duck Fat Fries. As a disclaimer, I LOVE salty food. I put salt on basically everything but these fries were so so so over salted. There was so little duck.
Service was great but we were highly disappointed with the beer menu and the salty fries. It was pretty empty on a Saturday night. One DJ blasting music with a small crowd trying to talk over the music. -

UPDATE:
I came back recently to celebrate and enjoy some food at a restaurant that I remember being awesome! I guess they changed everything. The diner booths I remember are gone. The nice servers from before are gone. Half of the menu is gone.
After sitting there for 10 minutes with no service I realized this place is foremost a BAR that has bar food, and not a restaurant that serves drinks. It seems like a dive bar attitude- but with elite drink prices. Rather go somewhere nicer. Unsure of what this place is now. Maybe I would have been down for this place when I was 21 bar hopping, but this place definitely isn't the spot for date night. Wouldn't bring anyone here.
Weird table arrangements, weird DJ playing- the vibe was way off. -

Nice vibe and a good happy hour until 7. I will say they seemed a bit understaffed, bc our waitress was running around quite a bit, but the bartenders are equally able to help you out so i just ended up going to the bar.
I had a few different drinks. They have some interesting beers on tap, so definitely take a look at what's on rotation. I also had the monthly HH cocktail, which was called the paper plane or something, and was really really good. I'd say just see what's on the HH menu for drinks.
They also have food. I tried the chicken nuggets from the HH menu and they're quite filling (tho they come really hot so beware).
I also like that they have a "secret" tiki bar accessible from inside, and that also had nice drinks. Know that you have to close out your tab from Beer Belly before you go into the tiki section (and no taking drinks/food in there).
Overall a good spot and would definitely go again!
Stay Cheerful ;) -

This local Long Beach treasure has a great selection of Craft Beers and Cocktails along with a few different Ciders. The food is typical bar food rich, fried and fattttttt. If your looking for something healthy you won't find it here (but who craves healthy food when you're at bar?) I gotta say although I only tried a few things the Beer Belly Grilled Cheese is Amazing and the Fried Cauliflower is probably one of my favorite things on the the menu- fried to perfection.
